A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.
Although not quite at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.
“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”
The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – originating from a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.
A New Life
Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.
“It represents the character of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
