A tragic explosion at a law enforcement facility in the Kashmir region under Indian control has led to the fatalities of nine individuals and wounding to thirty-two additional people, according to authority reports.
The occurrence took place when a cache of impounded blast substances inadvertently exploded during processing activities.
Chronology of Incidents
The blast took place on Friday evening at the Nowgam police station, where detonation agents confiscated in Faridabad in the northern state of Haryana state were being stored temporarily.
Local security director declared that the explosives were awaiting forensic examination when a "very unfortunate" mishap during management resulted in their detonation at approximately 23:20 in the evening.
Official Statements
Security forces verified that this was an "unintentional explosion" and not a terror incident. "Alternative theories regarding the reason of this event is unneeded," highlighted the security director during a media conference.
The security post suffered severe damage from the explosion, with neighboring structures also being influenced by the powerful blast.
Consequences and Fatalities
Numerous cars were "consumed by fire and reduced to charred husks, with debris scattered across the location," according to authority statements.
"The force of the explosion was so powerful that some body parts were found in nearby houses, approximately 100-200 metres away the police station," reported an official source.
The majority of the victims were law enforcement personnel, along with technical investigation team, two investigative imaging experts, and a clothing professional who was accompanying the group.

The territory's Regional Leader expressed condolences and announced that an inquiry had been directed into the devastating event.
"I have commissioned a investigation to establish the reason of the unintentional blast. Extremely pained by the fatalities of important persons due to exceptionally devastating accidental blast at Nowgam police station in Srinagar. My sympathies to the mourning loved ones. I wish for rapid recuperation of the injured," stated the official on social media.
