Dive Into this Revamped Classic Adventure: This Complimentary Demo for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.

Enthusiasts looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. A free-to-play demo version is set to go live on the seventh of January, granting a substantial glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Notably, all save data earned within this demo is eligible to be imported directly into the complete game upon its February launch.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Overhaul

This title constitutes a ground-up reimagining of the landmark year 2000 RPG, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct departure from recent Dragon Quest re-releases, such as the recently released HD-2D iterations, this version adopts a unique three-dimensional aesthetic. Locales appear to look like intricate model sets, with characters having a whimsical toy-like appearance.

"Taking into account the previous remake, the story was still exceptionally long. Therefore, we came to a conclusion that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for modern gamers."

Key Gameplay Enhancements and Updates

Square Enix have implemented numerous changes to streamline the classic experience. This encompasses:

  • Streamlined Overworld Encounters: Inspired by modern role-playing games, low-level foes can now be defeated instantly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for entering a separate turn-based combat sequence.
  • Adjustable Combat Speed: Gamers have the option to accelerate combat animations to rapidly power through less challenging fights.
  • Expanded Vocation System: One completely new vocation has been created for this reimagining. Additionally, party members now have the option to master a second vocation, significantly expanding strategic options.

These alterations are designed to address a key the 2000 title's common criticisms: its considerable scope. That initial main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to see through. The reimagined version has been expressly reworked to improve flow and reduce perceived bloat.
