The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments of the year because of a health issue she has been battling in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

She was also playing with clear difficulty in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has troubled her during parts of the season.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
