Fans are eagerly awaiting for the chilling show Welcome to Derry, already receiving positive feedback and weaving in themes from additional King stories. Just one day after launch, the network announced that episode two will premiere ahead of schedule, released fittingly for Halloween.

Kicking off on October 31 at midnight PT, episode two of Welcome to Derry will premiere on the streaming service, before its traditional TV airing. Future chapters of the series run will be released on Sunday nights on HBO and HBO Max, building toward the concluding chapter on December 14th.

Based in the world of King's It, It: Welcome to Derry draws from the classic book while enlarging the world brought to life by director Andy Muschietti in the two It films. The first It movie focused on young characters confronting terrifying threats, so it’s fitting that this show continues that tradition. Nevertheless, the first installment of the streaming show proves it set out to increase the tension, providing more frightening moments than Muschietti’s films and creating a brutal tone for the rest of the season.

Set in 1962, the program features a fresh cast of parents and youngsters inhabiting a seemingly idyllic town hiding a sinister core. The town operates on a vicious, repeating pattern—one marked by hostility, discrimination, and otherworldly forces, as a terrifying being reappears every 27 years. Although the series might sound like it skews too close to the films on the surface, what distinguishes the streaming show is its parallel storytelling—unfolding through the eyes of both children and adults at the same time. Younger characters remain especially susceptible to the entity's fear, but the adults aren’t spared facing their personal demons arising from the town's ingrained prejudice and covert otherworldly powers.
