Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
