Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a 13-month break following the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
