The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating violence and madness with the same excitement, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose projects have represented all of those qualities.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by introducing a new location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their steady trust and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary sensibility to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
