16-year-old Swiss teenager a young man from Switzerland is one of those unaccounted for.

The loved ones of teens unaccounted for after a devastating inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for information about their children via social media.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated footage reveal the ceiling igniting as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the victims of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 40 people and hurt another scores more. Authorities said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work still underway to identify the remaining few.

In the waiting period, loved ones have been taking to the internet to plead for any news about their friends who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Missing

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his mother.

The resident of a town near the city, told a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's terrible," she stated.

She continued that some of his companions had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through hell."

The Italian government has indicated that six of its citizens are still unaccounted for.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around midnight on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, who hailed from Genoa but now living in Dubai.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is deceased, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is still pending.

Further Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the bar.

"A companion told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

One of his teachers said, "I remember his kindness and smile, coupled with great maturity. Every time ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her brother has shared an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her country of origin say they are closely watching the situation.
