Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
