The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with using the total value of frozen Russia's assets to bolster the Ukrainian war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government initiated its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, money provided to Ukraine using Russia's funds had only been taken from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward utilizing the total worth of the frozen Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that more restrictions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on Moscow.
